THE 2010 LECTURE was given by Michael Morpurgo, and took place at Seven Stories, The National Centre for the Children’s Book, Newcastle upon Tyne. The lecture included a reading and discussion of his essay, From Wombles To War, and a reading from his novel, Shadow.
Michael Morpurgo OBE, has written a great number of highly regarded and popular novels for children, including War Horse which has been made into both a film and an award-winning play. He was Children’s Laureate 2003-2005 and is also a poet, anthologist, playwright and librettist. He regularly speaks up for children’s rights and the importance of reading.
